Before you agree a visit
An enquiry commits you to nothing. If you decide against going ahead, there is no visit or time slot to cancel.
Changing an agreed visit
Reply to the email or text used to agree the work as soon as you can, with the visit date and the change you need. A new date takes effect once it has been agreed with you.
Your right to cancel
Where the UK cancellation rules for distance or off-premises service contracts apply, the usual cancellation period is 14 days from the day after you agree the contract. You can cancel by making a clear statement to the trader. Keep a copy of your message.
You will be given the applicable cancellation information and contact details when a visit is agreed.
UK guidance on distance sellingStarting within the cancellation period
If you expressly ask for work to begin within this period and then cancel, you may have to pay a proportionate amount for work already carried out. The right to cancel can end after full performance if the legal conditions, including your prior express consent and acknowledgement, are met.
Separate rules can apply to a visit specifically requested for an urgent repair. Your other statutory rights continue to apply.
